You are right. The camera is supposed to stay in the same subnet with your mobile phone.
There are two ways we can try to help the camera obtain the correct IP setting.
1. Firstly, please install the Mac software with the instructions below. While you try to add the camera, make sure the check box – modify the IP address automatically is marked. I sent you the image attached. Now you see whether the mac can change the camera’s IP address or not.
2. If it doesnt’ work, you can connect the camera to the local network and keep it running for more than one hours. During this time, the camera will try to obtain the IP address from your DHCP server (local network).
